Well this is the first post on the blog, and I am more than a little nervous! But I’m going to share some of the story of That’s So Fandom.
It was started in 2017. I had been talking with a former friend about opening up an IT support shop, but that fell through. Instead I thought to myself “Wouldn’t it be neat to have a geek shop”. That dream never died and in 2022 I decided to start working to make it a reality.
While I would love a physical store, I quickly realised I wouldn’t be able to do one. I live in a small town and it simply wouldn’t get the footfall needed for a physical store, so I chose an online medium. And then I needed a name and a logo. Eventually I settled on the current name, and an artist friend from X designed the logo for me with my help.
Soon I started creating the website you’re reading this on. Its not the first website I’ve created, but it’s the first one I poured this much time, energy and love into. It took a while, but I eventually got there and on the fourth November 2024, I hit the button to go live on the site.
So what does the future hold for That’s So Fandom? It’s more than just money for me, I want to build a community. I want to build a place where geeks and nerds can discuss their favourite things, bring their favourite lore titbits to other fans and most importantly, have fun and be themselves. I hope you enjoy this site and I hope this is somewhere you can be your authentic self all the time.
